Linear Versus Recurring Income

Do you actually know the definition of a recurring income?

A linear income  resembles bills which you pay once and they are done. Buy a dress, buy a meal, see a movie, things you do once at a time – they are linear expenses.

There are also recurring expenses:                 your utilities bills, your telephone bill, various insurances -                                                       amounts you keep paying again and again on a monthly basis.

In  most professions – teachers, doctors, lawyers, or in fact any other – you are exchanging time for money.  You teach, treat a person, set up a contract. When you stop working, your income stops – you have a "linear income".

  • However, if you write a book (preferably a best seller) or make a CD which will sell well or you purchase stocks to save up for your retirement your income structure is different. For each book or CD that is being sold you earn a certain amount money – month after month and year after year.
  • For a good investment you will receive dividends in much the same manner. This is a so-called "recurring" income:  you receive it for something you have done once and it goes on and on.

When you create a recurring income you can actually live the life style of the rich without having to become a millionaire first.

  • A recurring income solution for a teacher might be receiving a small percentage of each student’s income after they leave school and start working, and for as long as the student works.

Crunch the numbers to see how much you would have to have to save up to be able to have a recurring income of 10 000 Dollars from interests on your account. Right now this is an interesting question  – a life time of savings would not be enough!

When you start a network marketing business you will soon be having some extra income.  As your team grows also the checks will grow. If you are wise and use that extra money to pay off your debts first, you will be debt free by the time your recurring income reaches 10 000 Dollars a month and that will already do nicely for a good life style.
It is an excellent way to create wealth – you likely do not know many people who will be able to achieve that kind of income from their interests.

Provided you are coachable and you really want to KNOW you can build that kind of income in network marketing in 2 – 10 years.

In network marketing today public speaking is unavoidable.

Provided you really do it as a business  you will be having a group after a while. You will have to speak up in front of others – may it be in a conference call or at a personal meeting somewhere locally or if you are really successful at building your network marketing business you will be asked to speak at the convention of your company.

Of course when you consider public speaking there may well be a fear element inside you, however, practice is the key.

I came across an interesting story about horses. Some horses graze on the side of the railroad tracks, seemingly not minding or fearful when trains rush bye them. And then there are horses who fear even their own shadows. How come?

Well, the horses who apparently graze near the railway track  obviously have adapted – they overcame their fear by habit. Seemingly the grass tastes better by the railroad tracks, so by practicing grazing in spite of the trains, they faced their fears and overcame it.

The magic wand is practice practice and practice again. Practice by saying a few words here and there on calls, by speaking up in small more familiar groups until this constant practice will turn into habit and remove any lingering fear you have of public speaking. At times someone suggests practicing in front of a mirror – well, may be until you know what you want to say that may help, but it is not the same as speaking in front of an audience, YOUR audience.

Let’s assume you stand up in front of your team for the first time -  you certainly will be having will have a supportive audience, eager to hear what you have to say. You are their role model – they know the will have to do it sooner or later.

By the time you receive the honour of being asked to speak at the annual convention of your network marketing company you will have acquired enough practice that you will be able to speak there without a fear problem.

Start at once – practice makes perfect and the more practice you get the better you will be. In the process also observe other speakers and make notes of what you like about them and what not and this will help you too.

Responsibilities – WE carry the world!

Yes – we do have a responsibility when we enter a people’s business like network marketing today.

Working with people internationally creates an increased responsibility. There is not only the trust that needs building from person to person, but there also is this element of “being foreign” that needs to be bridged, which takes building even more trust.

In this process as people get to know each other and enter into mutual growth processes, honesty, integrity, truth, having the best intention for the other, are necessities which cannot be replaced. Even slight slips, unless acknowledged and mended will have an undesirable impact

Accepting these responsibilities will build relationships strong enough that a successful  life-time business can be built together. These responsibilities work well when they are mutual. Even if one is the teacher at some stage and the other one the pupil – eventually it will be give and take as the teacher gets the pupil that fits and the pupil gets the teacher that fits.

This responsibility also extends to the business that is being built. there needs to be integrity of the field towards the network marketing company in question, but  at the same time there needs to be absolute integrity on behalf of the company towards the field too. One cannot do without the other.

And to state another point – there needs to be responsibility of how we present us, our team, our business to the world. does it happen in a “clean” way without sneaky or secretive actions? Long-term result will show up what is what and who is who.

I hope I got you thinking and you will bear these thoughts in mind when planning, working, building your network marketing business today.  The resulting rate of success will prove your actions right.

The power of the team cannot only be observed in network marketing. It can be observed everywhere in this world.image

Let’s start with something simple – take one match and break it – well, easy, of   course! Take a bunch of matches, hold them together as a bunch and try to break it – not easy at all – depending on the diameter of the bunch even impossible.

You can also see it in the animal kingdom – herds, swarms, flocks, whatever the various groups of animals are called – they stick together, as together their chance for survival is a lot higher.

When it comes to  humans it is quite obvious – where bigger groups stick together   and follow a plan, an idea, ward off danger or whatever, it works. One person at a time would be lost, but as a team they can make it! It is a proven success principle of old.

 

When it comes to building a network marketing business the power of the team is of major importance.

Working together, sharing views and ideas, helping one another without an agenda – that’s what makes people succeed. In a network marketing team there should be team spirit across all organisations – no competition or hick – hack .

People who are building within the same company should always consider themselves as one team.  That way a company as well as the distributors will have a solid business success.

I’d like to span the bow wider – it is important to have co-operation and support within the entire industry of network marketing. This idea of togetherness should cause companies to offer even better opportunities so that people have more choices where to build a solid business.

It is the Power of A Team that can change the world!

Let’s continue with the colours training.  You will draw  real value once you get to compare the 4 main colours, once you have the full picture.

As a rule you can recognise the basic, the dominant colour of a person best when you get to meet them first, as with growing acquaintance people get more comfortable and show more sides of themselves and consequently the prevailing colour doesn’t show up that clearly anymore.

What are the strengths of blue personalities:

They are convincing and enthusiastic, natural promoters, their energy level is high and they are very creative.

The motto of blue personalities is: FUN, FUN, FUN, …

Professionally they are in sales and entertainment and they  can be public speakers. Network marketing is a good choice for them as they work in a team and there will be others who complement them. As a rule they have a powerful and loud way to express themselves and their appearance will be stylish, colourful – even flamboyant. Whatever they do it is all about fun and excitement.

What do you need to watch when dealing with a blue personality:

No facts and figures, no details, nothing that is not FUN.

Don’t ever go into detail with them. They hate facts and figures and figure things out as they go along. Being alone is “unfun” for them and they always need fun and excitement. So tell them what fun they can expect  when they start working in the team with you, …

Bonding with them will always be action in a way. They need to see the fun and then the world is ok. It is good to have “blues” in the team – they will move forward and be dynamic but will leave the details and the fussy work to those who like it, like the yellows or the greens.

Although yellows and blues are open, you will realise quickly that the yellow personalities are indirect in their expression, whereas blues are very direct.

Network Marketing is Organic

Look at a healthy tree.:

First of all the young tree has to be planted. To grow well it needs a well developed system of roots which keeps continuously expanding to guarantee good supply of water and nutrients to its crown. Of course the good supply will only be there if the soil in which it grows is fertile and humid. If all this applies the growth of the crown with ample of foliage happens automatically.

After a certain period of growth also blossoms will develop and eventually fruit – the harvest!

 

Now look at network marketing:

First of all the business has to be started. To have it grow well, a team has to be developed which of course will only develop well in a nurturing environment of teaching and of support, were all the requirements regarding tools as well as loving personal support are present. As a result the team will continue growing, the turnover will grow as well and eventually the income you expect to develop will be there.

After a certain time this income will be substantial and will be residual – the harvest!

Can you see the parallel? The tree as well as a network marketing business take time to grow and need a good basis of support to finally yield fruit year after year after year.

Now ask yourself this question:

Since you know that a tree takes years to really give ample of fruit for years to come, will you plant just any tree or will you choose carefully so that you can be sure the fruit will be all you want?

That’s why you also need to choose carefully when you look for the business you intend to base your life on. You want it to be honest and solid, trustworthy, legal and long-term – after all it is your life that is at stake!

Work on Your Dream

We have been talking about goals – a lot in fact – so why now talk about your dream?  Your dream is an expression of the soul of life of your nature.

Years back when I first met up with someone who asked me about my dreams I was a bit put out as I had left my dreams behind me like so many. Passing through the educational system with its attitude of rationalism and the request that knowledge has to be acquired at any cost, had step by step and thoroughly eliminated the dreams. Not that I was aware of it as no one ever talked about them apart from dreaming during sleep and even talking about that was not too popular in those days.

The friend who had alerted me to think about my dreams obviously had encountered many people like me who had lost their dreams altogether. He started to coach me carefully, asked me what I had wished for as IM000480a small child and in my early years at school and even then I found it hard to connect. I met other people in groups who talked about their dreams and how important they are in life and so slowly I dared to risk a thought and another one and I used my so well trained rational mind to go that way and imagine. It was a start, yet I realised that something was missing. For me my dreams at that stage were a list of ideas which appealed to me as being nice, but they didn’t impact me enough to get me going after them. When discussing the topic with like minded people I even encountered another obstacle. They kept talking about following the dreams with passion as that would make them real and tangible. Wow – what a challenge – where do you get passion from when you have lost it as a result of the conditioning you have received for years and years…

Does this situation perhaps ring a bell in you? Do you feel odd, to say the least, when somebody asks you what your dreams are? Today the topic of dreaming, of creating your vision, of working on the dreams, the vision has become a lot more popular and more and more people are at least in theory aware of this concept. There are workshops available and teams who dedicate time to this kind of work and also in good business trainings the dream and the vision have found space.

If you are new  to this kind of work I strongly suggest you get yourself a pin board which you make your dream/vision board – you can start off with small things which come to your mind which you might want or do  and which at the moment have no room in your life and as you keep looking at the board you will step by step develop an  interest and a liking for adding ideas or even change some until at some stage you will realise that you have developed a relationship with your dreams and that you actually draw them into life through your imagination, later in your thoughts, your planning. And then one or the other of the dreams on your vision board will manifest in life and  now, if it did not happen before, you can also connect with the passion you are supposed to have for your dreams.
