Don’t Make  a List of Family and Friends!

I know – I know – there are many around who want you to do just this.

Why do I claim it makes no sense:

Look around – most kids know already when they are still attending school which profession they want to do  next. Some want to be teachers, others hairdressers, boys might want to become pilots, farmers or hunters – so many jobs around.

So why would anyone who wants to be a teacher fancy to be on your network marketing list? Or a surgeon who chose this as a vocation, or in fact anyone who chose a job out of their free will. Do you understand why they will avoid you like bad money if you keep offering your network marketing business to them?

Basically there are only about 20 % of the population who actually want to run their own business and among those you have many trades. So only a fraction of all people will be “potential” for network marketing.

As it is in network marketing today, the major percentage of people are struggling – mostly because old belief systems, like “you need to make a list of family and friends” keep being around and newcomers keep buying into it and stepping into the circle of failure of none of their fault. It is time to stop this folly and establish a valid training for network marketer that will eventually change the entire face of this industry by leading more and more people to success in building a network marketing business.

Once you are trained adequately you can stretch out your hand and help other struggling network marketers learn what you have learned and success in network marketing today will be your reward.

Independence – Truth or Fake?

Today network marketing is an excellent opportunity to work for your independence. Yes, WORK!

Too many sites on the internet propagate “get rich quick” schemes online, claiming that they are network marketing businesses. However, they are not. Instead all this hype is tinting the reputation of the industry.

What is Net – Work – Marketing?

As the word implies it is a Net of people Working at Marketing. A net in a way implies that there is no hierarchy, that there are many equal “cells”. Yes, people have different levels of success in network marketing – but doesn’t very much the same also apply for any other business or profession?

It is always those who succeed, who are good at it, who apply themselves diligently, who have persistence and don’t let themselves be discouraged.

When I looked at the numbers of opening and closing businesses at the Chamber of Commerce one day, I was stunned to see how many businesses that open do not succeed and close even within their first year. A network marketing business is a business as any other, and as a result it cannot be a surprise that many of these businesses close again within a short period of time.

Does this mean running a restaurant does not work? No

Does this mean running a car sales business does not work? NO

So why the hell should it mean a network marketing business doesn’t work?

I hope you get my point. It is not the business which is not successful it is the person who is not running it successfully. Does it mean it is the person’s fault? It may be, but in many instances is it not.

Very often it is simply lack of education, as unlike in many other trades or professions, network marketing doesn’t have an established training course. Even corporate training may very well not serve the purpose, as many network marketing companies have a management who have never done network marketing themselves.  So how can they train anyone successfully?

Yes, network marketing is designed to give you independence if you play by the proven rules. Get trained by somebody who is doing it successfully now. NOW being the critical point about it as change is rapid in this industry.

Have a critical mind, choose well and claim your independence by building a successful network marketing business today!

Network Marketing Today

For some strange reason the necessity of skills for success in network marketing has not become established yet.

In any other job, profession, trade it is considered normal that solid training is required. Nobody would dream of becoming a lock smith without learning it, or a teacher with out going to college, or a doctor without studying medicine, or a lawyer or anything else. Most of them have to go through additional training once they have finished the basic course.

So why on earth would anyone “think” they could do network marketing anyways?

Yea – I know – most people are aware of the fact that they are giving recommendations from the time onwards when they can speak – but that’s only part of it.

Very much like a person who has a high musical talent still has to practise playing the piano or in fact any other instrument to become really proficient, a person who wants to go into network marketing and do more than just “dabble around” needs to go through some solid training to really make it in network marketing today. It’s always been that way but today with so much internet technology being part of business activities apart from the person to person skills of communication and more, acquiring skills has become an absolute MUST:

Skills: personal development of self and helping others with it, knowing how to choose a business, lead generation (handling internet sites, social networks, blogging, advertising and a lot more), connecting with the leads in a way that a good percentage become business partners, …. the list is ongoing.

 Attention!

Not all training on the internet meets the required standards – so watch out, choose well, don’t let yourself be ripped off!

Emotionally intelligent mentoring and leadership development, for leaders who want to achieve success with their team is an absolute MUST.

How to Spark Change

There are so many ideas and suggestions for this question. Many experts state that leadership is based on your inner most belief systems:

You must be a leader – deep down in your heart.

 

There are plenty of other approaches:

  • Become the person others will want to follow
  • Locate your strengths
  • Boost your self-awareness and authenticity
  • Live what you preach
  • Become emotionally and socially intelligent
  • Visualise to materialise
  • Be true to yourself, and change will happen

In reality, change doesn’t occur by extra-sensory perception alone. The quoted points all add to your charisma -  it stimulates the attraction you radiate. As a leader with an inner commitment to change, if you want to have any effect, you must communicate.

Good communication is the bread and butter in network marketing – it sets an example to those they aspire to lead.

Leaders’ actions – their attraction speak louder than their words, but nevertheless it’s what leaders say – or don’t say – that has an impact. It’s the right words that can create:

  • Enthusiasm
  • Energy
  • Bonds
  • Momentum
  • Motivation to last

The wrong words, careless words or even words said in the wrong place, can undermine your best intentions, your plans, other good work and kill initiative on the spot. They turn people off so to speak. This is true for any kind of leadership, all the more so in MLM which is a profession with a high emotional element.

Start getting your “how to say” right and not only the “what to say” – it will facilitate your life and success in building your business.

As somebody who is roaming the internet on a quest of building a home business you for sure have seen plenty of programs for network marketers which promise you plenty of leads on auto-pilot – 20 per day and more.

Now help me think – and I am not going to debate if this is possible or not – let’s simply  assume it is possible – after all it is being propagated by so many.

You get your first 20 leads. To call them to start a relationship will take you a few minutes per person – let’s say only about 5 minutes – this, together with the notes you will have to make will take you roughly 2 hours. You will say – that’s easy. Now the next day you have another 20 leads, again about 2 hours work, the 3rd day and the remaining days of the week too – in all 14 hours a week. Wow you were good you actually pulled it through to spend 2 hours per day on your business. You are proud of yourself -  you have found the magic wand in network marketing!

However – see the second week – you have some follow up activities for about 140 people. It needs to be done as you are aware “one contact is no contact” – if you take it at steps it will mean about an hour a day for the various follow up activities, but now there are the next 20 leads per day too and altogether you end up with 3 hours per day. Wow this is starting to become real work – 21 hours a week.

Consider the third week – you have 280 people for the follow up activities half for the first round, half for the second round and you are good, you can do this in a couple of hours and of course the 2 hours for the new leads………..I hope you get me! You in fact start wondering how this can be duplicable in a profession where the major percentage of people are having their main job on top of it and of course lots of them have family ties and obligations too. Hm – and yet you keep telling them “you’ll be getting 20 leads per day on auto-pilot” – but strangely enough you are not relaxed any more when you propagate this…….

When you have to call so many people you automatically  have an agenda – your agenda will be time and your capacity to remember, don’t forget: notes don’t do all – your prospects become more and more aware that you are not actually listening to them but doing a kind of routine job – they sense that you are stressed out and in a hurry when all they want is being heard – heard for whatever they might need in their business. The feeling that they are kind of treated as numbers is cropping in and …

after a few more weeks time very likely you will wake up because you see that in spite of all the well organised and massive work you are doing for your MLM business people don’t stay on, don’t connect with you, but instead move on to find someone with whom they will be “a person with a problem” who is seeking a coach and mentor who will listen to them without an agenda and help them to overcome their difficulties, to develop the skills they need, to grow as a person as, to achieve more you have to become more.

This personal growth factor does not only apply to your new people and business relationships, but it applies very much so also to yourself. When you work with people in a heart felt and respectful way you grow yourself and after a while you will be an awesome leader – loved and respected not only by the own group but by everyone  around you.
