Packing things in cotton wool doesn’t solve problems.

True – a positive attitude and a healthy self worth are essential necessities to proceed well in life and business. However there is a lot of misunderstanding around this topic.

If the truth is negative it will not become positive by keeping quiet about it or by talking around it.

It happens at times that people attack me as a coach in mentoring for free – they claim we put out too much negative stuff.

So here is what happens: To make sure that people have a chance to avoid the many traps and crappy offers which are floating around we make an effort to gather them and explain them so that people can SEE.

It doesn’t matter if it is a commission plan concept which will not pay the average person but only a few at the top or policies and procedures which put the distributors of a company at a disadvantage or even bind them totally. Most people don’t understand commission plans or contracts to the extent that they are aware what they are in for. The sad thing about it –  people dream of retiring early, however in many cases the policies and procedures contain a NO NO NEVER – it might say: To get a check you have to provide ongoing training or what I read just recently – you will be terminated if you have not been active for more than 12 months … doesn’t sound like being able to retire ever.

Unfortunately this is only one example of what to watch out for there’s lots more.

Of course stuff like that is negative – yet not telling people is not only negative but crappy – I feel it is a great service to alert people to awareness. Only when you avoid what will harm you, can you have a truly positive experience of life and of building a successful network marketing business.

Building a network marketing business there are a few things which scream “scam” – yet they need to be understood.

• The worst technique you can ever use for building your business is to create fear of loss. It tops everything else in business development. Sure, it does works. It does get people in. But your business will be totally wrong to begin with. You are attracting the type of people none of whom will ever work.
• Next there are many companies that do a powerline, a binary or a matrix. As a rule their focus is on promoting spillover. Of course there are actually people who have got spillover, no doubt. BUT – the people that “arrived” as spillover never ever worked. Why’s that?

That’s an easy one: The promise of "spillover" creates a welfare mentality! There are bunches of people out there who are looking to get something for nothing. That’s the kind people you attract when you tell them: "Get in NOW, and you are going to get spillover!"

They are triggered by the fear of “losing something for nothing”.

So they get in right away and then they sit like cats, keeping quiet watching for the mice, waiting patiently for that spillover that’s going to make them rich.

What a great Business Plan!

The same happens when joining a binary because you are offered a position that already has a million Dollar volume in one leg. Fact is you don’t get paid unless you build the weak leg. But people with a lottery mentality will jump for such a position", they join – but never do anything, and never earn a dime.

Be aware of the words, powerline and spillover. Whenever you see them you know their purpose is to promote welfare mentality. Something for nothing, something for nothing, something for nothing…

Fact is, YOU are in Net-“Work” Marketing. Net-“Work” Marketing is a business and it takes WORK – net-WORK marketing, not net-free marketing, right?  It’s not net-spillover marketing nor is it net-zero marketing. The topic is WORK! A "something for nothing" mindset will not work. Period.

You’d be like giving a bunch of couch potatoes welfare aid directly to their account. It lets them stay on the couch, drink their beer and watch a football game. No problem.

Those Two Words Are A Hot Tip!

When you hear them from a company or from a distributor – that’s not the company or person to build your life on long-term. They will not be successful. Move on and keep on looking. There are lots of good companies & network marketers out there. You will for sure find the right mentor.

Ants are a fascinating species – no wonder Jim Rohn liked the analogy he was teaching.

An ant hill, as  in the picture, is a very precisely organized society. Everything is in place, nothing is left to chance. Everything they do is organized and duplicable by all the ants who belong to this group. No wonder they are masters at survival as well as at accomplishment.

Jim Rohn:

Over the years, I have been teaching kids about a simple yet powerful concept: The Ant Philosophy. I think everybody should study ants. They have an amazing four-part philosophy.

     1. Ants Never Quit

That’s a good maxim. If they’re headed somewhere and you try to stop them, they’ll look for another way. They’ll climb over and under, they’ll crawl around and they keep looking for another way – they don’t give up. What an awesome philosophy to never quit finding ways to reach where you want to go. A true role model!

     2. Ants think about “winter” all summer

What a circumspect attitude. It simply wouldn’t make sense to think summer will last forever. Ants collect their food for the winter all over summer.

Quotations like “don’t build your house on sand” are founded. A house needs a foundation to last and very much the same way we need to look ahead and need to do things in a well structured way as the ants – never deterred by averse “winds”.

      3. Ants think about “summer” all winter

This is so important. During the winter ants keep reminding themselves “This won’t last long – we’ll soon be out again” and on the first warm day, the ants come out of their winter domicile. They are flexible though – when it turns cold again, they dive back in.  however they sense the warmth and can’t wait to stay out doing their job.

     4. How much will an ant collect in summer to prepare for the winter

The answer is: All they possibly can. What an incredible “all-you-possibly-can” philosophy!

Generating leads is crucial to anyone who wants to develop a network marketing business successfully. Creating a lead lead means acquiring contact information of people by giving them the chance to express their interest in what you have to offer. Such leads are “opt-in” leads and you can market to them without being accused of spamming. It is a top most necessity in the industry.

When you look up and down the internet you will find tons of offers for so-called “opt-in leads”, however, when you consider what was said above you can see at once that such leads are scams

• they have not opted in to your personal offer accordingly
• they are no “opt-in” leads for you.

If you want to do business properly you also have to make sure that such opt-in leads have the option of opting out of your information if they find it isn’t what they were looking for after all.

There are millions of people out there who may not even know about your offer, but who would be interesting in it. Unless you consider generating leads as part of your marketing strategy, you are not likely to meet them on line. Sitting back in your chair doing nothing after you have created a web-site won’t get you anywhere!

It is a simple way of generating leads for network marketing or in fact any other business,  to set up a subscription service to every advertisement or site you create. Also add a mailing list to your website. People who subscribe inform you that they are interested in your information, products and services. People who sign up for your mailing list express their  interest in your offer. Now all you have to do is contact these leads and present your offer to them or find out which kind of information they were looking for. Chances are, that they will be happy to be in touch with you and eventually even work with you.

Building people, as we do in network marketing, is an environment where honesty and integrity have to be rated even higher than normal.

Author Jeff O’Leary, in The Centurion Principles, writes, " ‘Honor’ encompasses the virtues of integrity and honesty, self-denial, loyalty, and a servant’s humility to those in authority above as well as a just and merciful heart to those below."

Today “honour“ sounds a bit old-fashioned. But living a life of integrity and character is timeless and a MUST for a leader. It’s about choices, and a person’s choices determine their life.

This doesn’t say a leader needs to be perfect. Perfection in  life is not possible nobody is an exception. However, a leader must continually work toward perfection in spite of this.

The most effective leaders throughout history have led with their hearts, in trust, and with honour.
If a leader cuts corners, misuses people, or distorts the truth, a time bomb begins ticking to go off at some unknown time. In our times we see too often: Public figures at the height of power and fame crash and burn in the cloud of self-inflicted shame. From political scandals to high-profile corporate frauds – this is the result of a lack of honor in the leadership.

It is honour that holds a leader’s greed in check it prevents a leader from focusing on is own interest. It makes leaders productive. Another seemingly old-fashioned word, “duty”, is the result.

George Washington said of duty, "Human happiness and moral duty are inseparably connected."

Leaders with honesty and integrity will find happiness in the fulfillment of their duty to others. It is the character of a man which is being remembered.

A leader needs to act true to his word!

A leader must devote himself to matters of the heart if he wants to leave a legacy for the world. Character is developed in the valleys and the peaks of life and that’s why  such a person can overcome obstacles and deal with success.

Abraham Lincoln observed, "Nearly all men can handle adversity, but if you really want to test a man’s character – give him power." Character connects a person to what is right and true.

People will follow a leader only as far as they feel they can trust him.

People will not follow a leader they can’t trust. R. Ruth Barton states: "We set young leaders up for a fall if we encourage them to envision what they can do before they consider the kind of person they should be”.

People are not removed from [leadership] positions for lack of technical competence, but for lack of judgment and character" – as Heraclitus said: "Man’s character is his fate."

Last but not least it takes courage to be a leader with honesty and integrity as not all he does will be popular!

It is very obvious why personal development is a key factor in the free  training we offer. You need to believe in yourself and act with honesty and integrity to become a leader in network marketing.

Hm – I blink my eyes and look at the window – huh what a day – grey sky and rain – no way I don’t like that and turn round for yet another round of sleep. It is awesome to have thrown out the alarm clock. The only time I dig it up is when I want to catch a plane!

For the last couple of days the weather turned wonderful – sunshine and blue sky. What’s  more, my  pc  packed up  too. Poor me  enjoys a wonderful time in the garden –doing another run of landscaping and reorganizing and I also started to restore a couple of old chairs too! It is so nice to simply take time off without having to wonder if the remaining days of holidays will be enough  for the rest of the year…

When I choose to take the car and drive out somewhere for a few days – so what – I have all the time in the world, no boss who will harass me for not having been there, the money coming anyways – what a  wonderful life.

Time to go to USA  again for about 3 weeks in only 2 months and lots of other things till then.

A life which doesn’t have to follow a fixed schedule imposed from outside is best you can have.

Of course I also work – I love my team and helping others but I do it at my rate and in my case a lot of my schedule is determined by the weather LOL – gardening is my life – that’s unquestioned.

Got side tracked – of course I work –especially coaching people is so rewarding. We work in an international team so that everybody will be able to find a coach and mentor they like or else – none of us has to know it all – each and everyone has a specialty and for specific questions we connect with colleagues. This is not only convenient for us, but also shows people that team work is important  if they want to achieve success. Since we are a team and each of us is in network marketing, the mastermind team we have in place as a result  is exceptional – and what’s even more exceptional we do the entire training for free – we can afford and we explicitly want to make a difference.

What is your present situation? Are you having the success you have always dreamed of? NO? Well very likely it is not your fault.

What are you being taught by your upline or even the company – does it sound like:

• make a list of family and friends
• go back in your life to make the list bigger and add
• class mates,
• fellow workers
• the postman, the milkman and the neighbor’s cat….

If your training looks roughly like that I suggest RUN! This is network marketing as it was done 25 years back or longer, way before the internet.

In Modern MLM there is no need to do any of this. Keep your family and friends. It can’t be fun to see them avoid you only because you have confronted them with your business “umpteen” times.

There is no doubt – not everybody will do everything. That’s good. After all we do need teachers, nurses, bus drivers, lawyers, to name only a few – if they all would be network marketers where would our society be?

The solution is to look out for people who have already expressed an interest in network marketing. See that you connect with them, that you build a relationship, best by learning together how to succeed in a dedicated mastermind group.

Learning in a team builds relationships and some of the people you met and bonded with will be happy to join you also in your business and for the others be happy that the work you did together let them succeed in what they are already doing.

You will say that this sounds easy – well it is in a way, but  you need to learn the skill required to act respectfully on the internet so that you will connect with the people you want. And of course  communication skills and personal development will play a part in the process.

Network Marketing as life is a trip. Very much the same way as you climb a mountain where you get higher up with every single step you take, the steps you take in this business will get you on. And as in the mountains you will run in to level spaces where you take steps but you don’t rise up – in the business these are periods of personal growth. Once you have developed to the next level also your business will get moving again.
